With half of the world still in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we all could do with a little love and care.

Understanding this, Facebook has introduced a new reaction – a care emoji.

A unique addition

According to a report in Ladbible, this is the first time a new reaction has been added since the 'like' button was expanded to include several more emotional responses in 2015.

The care emoji is basically an emoji face hugging a heart.

On Facebook messenger, the heart pulses.

“We hope these reactions give people additional ways to show their support during the #COVID19 crisis.

"We know this is an uncertain time, and we wanted people to be able to show their support in ways that let their friends and family know they are thinking of them,” said a Facebook spokesperson quoted in the report.

At least we can give out plenty of virtual hugs now.
