Wah! Our Malaysian Passport Is Just As Powerful As The United States!
Remember back in April when we were told that Malaysians hold the fourth most powerful passport in the world?
According to the latest Global Passport Power Rank, our little red passbook has moved down the ranks by just a little bit to No. 6, as reported by The Star.
Despite the downgrade, this ranking still makes our passports just as powerful as that of Ireland, Canada and the United States!

A total of 193 United Nations member countries and six territories were reportedly taken into consideration.
In the past, the ten most powerful passports in the world were dominated European countries, with Germany taking the lead in the last two years.
But this year, a small country that Malaysians have a love-hate relationship with, Singapore took the No. 1 spot with a visa-free score of 159.
This makes Singapore the first Asian country to have the world’s most powerful passport. Other Asian countries ranked in the top 20 include South Korea and Japan.
Here are the top 10 most powerful passports in the world with their respective visa-free scores:
- Singapore (159)
- Germany (158)
- Sweden, South Korea (157)
- Denmark, Finland, Italy, France, Spain, Norway, Japan, United Kingdom (156)
- Luxemburg, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal (155)
