Washing Clothes At Night, Snoring Loudly Among Reasons Why M'sians Are Getting A Divorce
Getting married is one of the most beautiful things one can go through in their lifetime. You get to lovingly spend an eternity with your spouse and will have each other’s backs through thick and thin.
But for some, their fairytale love story doesn’t have a happy (or long) ending.

Many Malaysians choose to end their marriage each year and some of those marriages surprisingly ended for the most absurd reasons.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh shared some of the frivolous reasons newlywed couples get divorced during the parliament session on Tuesday.
Be prepared, here are some of the shocking reasons that may leave you in tears:
1. Doing laundry at night
Like seriously? In this modern day, most Malaysian women are working (including us) so the most logical timing to do our laundry is after working hours, which means some time at night. If you're unhappy with your spouse doing so, maybe you should be the one doing the laundry.2. Spouses who snore loudly
Well, most people snore so it's an issue that's nothing out of the ordinary. If your spouse's snoring is getting way out of hand, you should see a doctor not get a divorce.3. Husbands who dislike wives eating in the car
So, what if your wife eats in the car? Perhaps she has had a long day at work and didn't have time to eat. Instead of starving herself, it's better to eat on the go, right? And if she makes a mess, she can always clean up after.4. Wives who go on trips with their friends
Hello, if your wife go on trips with their friends, then you're technically allowed to do the same. So, that's your golden opportunity for a no-wife trip. Well, unless you don't have any friends. #foreveralone
The data was obtained from the Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department for couples who are married less than five years.
Other reasons cited were due to different political ideologies, husbands having lower salaries than their wives, and spouses who shop a lot.
From 2013 to 2017, there are 2,932 divorces for marriages under five years in Malaysia according to the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).
“For non-Muslims, the (country wide) statistics from the National Registration Department (NRD) showed there have been 14,440 divorce cases for marriages under five years for the same period,” Yeoh said.
“From that period, Johor recorded the highest number with 2,860 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,721 cases) and Selangor (1,858 cases)," she added.
Well, have you heard of any ridiculous reasons people want to get a divorce? For us, we heard that a couple filed for divorce because of the house key.
Unbelievable? Believe it.
