It's after 6pm and you're at the bus stop waiting for your bus to bring you to the LRT station.

Your work bag is getting heavier and there's no sign of the bus.

Where could it be? Stuck in traffic? Breakdown?

It's annoying when you don't know kan.

Well now, you don't have to guess. All you need to do is use Google Maps and check the real-time location of your bus.

A collaboration that will benefit many

Launched recently, the initiative is a collaboration between Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd and Google Maps.

The service will be applicable to Rapid KL, Go KL and Smart Selangor busses.

According to a report by Malay Mail, Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the application would enable users to check the real-time location of Rapid KL busses for close to 170 routes within the Klang Valley area.

“The data sharing also offers other travel options such as combination of bus and rail services, providing information on estimated travel time of a bus,” he said.

Expansion plans in the horizon

Expansion expected soon.

Tajuddin said that the company hopes to expand the service to include MRT feeder busses, Rapid Penang and Rapid Kuantan in the future.

“With the Google Maps data, customers no longer have to refer to the call centre, but can find out for themselves the real-time location of our Rapid bus before planning their trip," he said.

Now let's hope that the app doesn't hang lah.

We're not sure about you but trusting Google Maps has brought us to some pretty funky places around KL.
