Whoa, PTPTN Borrowers Actually Owe The Government A LOT Of Money!
In the wise words of King Los: 'Pay up!'
We knew before this that there are a lot of students who have yet to repay their Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) loans, but holy macaroons, we didn't expect the amount to be this much!According to a report by The Star Online, a total of RM2.6bil RM6.84bil is owed to the national higher education fund.
The figure includes RM2.84bil from 410,500 post-graduates who have yet to repay a single sen!
The remaining RM4.05bil, meanwhile, was owed by students who are currently repaying their loans but less than the agreed instalment amount.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh told the news portal that the fund should have collected RM18.97bil from a total of 1,900,743 borrowers since the PTPTN was introduced in 1997, but only RM12.13bil has been collected as of 30 September.
That's a lot of money owed to the government!

If you're one of those who has yet to repay your PTPTN loan, we suggest that you start doing so because the government is coming down hard on loan defaulters.
The New Straits Times reports that more than 6,000 defaulters are blacklisted daily.
This year alone, 264,000 names were reportedly logged into the system and yours could be next.
So, don't play play with your future and start paying up, especially when there's a 20 per cent rebate if you make a full payment by December next year.
