Why “Pretzel Kisser” Alice Chang & Her Sister Adeline Are Notorious for Their Bizarre Antics

Rojak Daily Team 15/10/2024 | 08:52 MYT
If you’ve read the news recently, you’ll know that a Malaysian lady named Alice Chang has gone viral for inexplicably kissing the dough at Auntie Anne’s Mid Valley Megamall outlet. Her sister Adeline has also gone viral numerous times for other reasons. What is the deal behind these two? Read more to find out.

We’re ‘knot’ kidding

What Alice did became a massive issue due to cleanliness concerns, and the pretzel chain took swift action, stating that Alice “was immediately terminated following this incident.” As reported by Sinar Daily, the outlet also took thorough measures to reassure the public, even temporarily closing it for thorough disinfection and cleaning.

The girl in the red dress

Netizens became familiar with Adeline’s name because she has often refused to pay for food or services. She is also known for typically wearing a red dress.

According to Malay Mail, Grab drivers complained that she would hire a ride, claim that her e-wallet did not have enough funds, and pay a small amount first, but instead of paying the total amount, she would flee the scene.

This resulted in her being blacklisted on Grab, and she has even resorted to asking strangers to call rides for her on the AirAsia Ride platform.

Other social media allegations have surfaced, including from nail and beauty salons. They claimed that Adeline would show up, request a service, claim she didn’t have money, and offer to pay later.

In-eggs-plicable behaviour

Adeline even tried to get out of paying for eggs. As reported by a popular noodle restaurant, she tried to avoid paying for two additional eggs (totalling RM5.00, excluding tax) that came with her noodle set. She claimed she only ate one egg and refused to eat the other, but the CCTV captured her eating both. She even asked other customers if they could pay RM2.50 for her. The police were even called, and one of the officers was kind-hearted enough to settle the bill for her.

Influencer life

Some parties have tried to profit from the Chang sisters' notoriety. They have been invited to various TikTok live streams, including to model wedding gowns, to a seafood restaurant, and to collaborate with influencer Bai En, previously known as Bryan Wee.

According to Hype, Bai En received flak from the public for ‘creating cheap publicity with Adeline’ after doing a Facebook livestream with her. The broadcast took place at Yao Wang Herbal Shop, where the two mainly discussed finding a boyfriend for Adeline.

An X user wrote, “Boycott companies that use Adeline Chang to promote their products. Malaysians should never ever promote and elevate someone like Adeline Chang. Don’t let her be an example of being like her can be famous and influential.”

Bai En previously helped Adeline to get influencer jobs but revealed in a post that she had decided “not to be her agent” anymore, saying Adeline was too demanding despite “zero sales”.

Where’s Alice now?

The public has been keeping tabs on Alice. At first, netizens claimed that she was working at Cold Stone Creamery. However, the chain was quick to dismiss the claims. They wrote, “We would like to clarify that she came wanting to be a part-timer, hiding her identity. We did not hire her, and she did not have access to the food. As part of our proactive measures, we have thoroughly cleaned the outlet.” It seems that she is more harmful than COVID-19!

Recently, according to a netizen @bawangimporter, the notorious woman has been spotted at a McDonald’s outlet in SS2, Petaling Jaya. She also posted a photo to a Chinese social media platform, Xiaohongshu, of a selfie of herself at work. The caption read, “Everyone, the McDonald’s SS2 manager molested me yesterday. He touched me and my butt. CCTV proof!!!” She even named the man she accused.

Netizens commented, “This is a very serious allegation, and if true, she should actually be taken to court for slander. Licking pretzel dough may not be a criminal offence, but falsely accusing a man of sexual assault is indeed a serious crime.”

Many netizens have speculated that the two are either mentally disturbed or serial scammers. We hope that they will be given the proper help they need to become beneficial individuals to society. What do you think about the duo?
