With Chinese New Year just around the corner, the government has released its new set of standard operating procedures (SOPs):
Right after that, the Aidilfitri celebrations are up next, but with COVID-19 cases slowly increasing again, rumours are beginning to swirl that there might be another travel ban.
If that's your worry, well; don't.
Ismail Sabri told Bernama that since the government has allowed interstate travels as well as economic and social sectors to be reopened, they have no plans to take a step back again.
“There has been speculation, including that people cannot ‘balik raya’ as there has been an increase in cases in the past few days. Please don’t worry, we will not shut down the whole country, states or districts again," he was quoted as saying.

Should COVID-19 cases increase again, Ismail Sabri said the government would look at imposing the the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) instead.
“We will focus on targeted areas identified with a lot of infections by enforcing EMCO. If the village is subject to EMCO, then only those from that village will be disallowed from returning,” Ismail Sabri said.
There you go, folks; you're free to 'balik kampung' this year. However, having said that, do remember to adhere to all the SOPs set by the government, yeah? Remember to also take your booster shots.
