Woman Killed In Freak Accident On Busy KL Road

Tragedy struck as a woman was killed when a crane hook fell onto her car at Jalan Raja Chulan during rush hour traffic last evening. The victim is identified as Chin Khoon Sing, 24 from George Town, Penang.

According to the NST, it is understood that the incident occurred at 7.20pm. The hook, which was attached to the crane at a nearby construction site is believed to have somehow detached and fell onto her vehicle. Chin’s car was stationary in the traffic jam when the crane fell on her car, killing her instantaneously. A City Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said firemen were alerted to the incident at 7.23pm, and 16 firemen were deployed to the scene.

Chin’s body was sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem according to The Star. Police are recording a statement from the management in charge of the crane and the cause is being investigated comprehensively. A witness, who only wanted to be known as Elizabeth, 34, told Bernama that she heard loud bangs before she saw the crane hook fall on a car in front of hers.
“People were running helter-skelter for dear life as the hook fell on the Kelisa. The incident happened very fast,” the witness told the national news agency.

Family and friends of Chin were seen entering the hospital’s morgue but they declined to make any comments.
