It seems that Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin can’t stay out of the limelight as of late.

From Veveonah Mosibin’s issue to taxing online purchases, comes another statement from the minister – a campaign to promote local films internationally.

The campaign, named ‘Road To Oscar’ (yes, without the ‘s’ after Oscar) is aimed to market local TV shows and films globally to reach a wider audience.

What kind of 'Oscar' are you looking at...
According to Bernama, Zahidi said the ministry wants more historical themed films and dramas to be produced to instil patriotism among Malaysians..

“We want new young directors and actors to be featured in these films and dramas through this programme.”

"KKMM will help them to produce the films and dramas, where we would like them to garner good response from abroad," he told reporters after the Merdeka @ Komuniti ceremony here at Pasir Mas on Tuesday.

Well, one can dream... dreams are free anyway.
The ministry is already in talks with Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) to produce such content.

Although the campaign may have put together with good intentions, some Malaysians feel that there are a lot more pivotal things to focus on right now.

So, what do you think?
