Remember the Englishman who travelled 9,656km from Greece to Malaysia to fix his nasi lemak cravings?
Well, guess what? Darren Cronian has been stuck in Malaysia for the past 11 weeks due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions in the country.
However, he is not complaining. In fact, he only has the best things to say about how Malaysia dealt with pandemic.

Made a choice to stay here

Malay Mail reported that that the British online entrepreneur and YouTuber recently shared his quarantine experience as a foreigner in Malaysia in a video titled ‘A Foreigner’s Message to Malaysia’.
Cronian said he had planned to explore Malaysia, but the situation changed after the Movement Control Order (MCO) was imposed.
He then had to make a difficult decision whether to stay in Malaysia or go back to the UK.
“I knew if I went back into the UK, I had to live with my parents and I wouldn’t want to bring any virus into their home.”
“When I saw Malaysia jumped into action, whilst the UK was kind of still open for business, I made the decision that I am going to strand myself in Malaysia and stay here and see it through whatever amount of time it was going to take,” he said in the video.
Cronian also shared how impressed he was with the way Malaysia handled the pandemic.
“I have been incredibly impressed with how Malaysia has handled the COVID-19.
“All of the state borders had police and army making sure people were not moving around, you could only go for food and essential items.
“You need to have strong leadership and I feel like the Health Ministry dealt with it fantastically, the frontliners dealt with it amazingly,” he said.
Not only that, he added that concerned Malaysians have also been contacting him social media platforms to ask if he was OK and if he needed anything.
“That didn’t make me feel as alone, that made me feel better that I had people that were looking out for me,” he said.
“I just want to say thank you Malaysia for looking out for me for giving me a safe home to live in over these last five months nearly.”
Thanks for your kind words, Darren. And thank you, fellow Malaysians, for making Darren feel welcomed.
