Football fever is here.

It’s that time of the season, guys.

People coming into work looking like zombies. More and more people taking medical or annual leave. An increase in unnecessary shouting in the middle of the night. An increase in break-ups because girlfriends and wives are getting ignored.

If you’re a football fan, you know what we’re talking about: yes, the world’s biggest football competition (the one that takes place once every four years) is upon us.

All hail the champs.
This edition will be taking place in the beautiful land of Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018, with 32 teams around the world battling it out for the coveted, 18 carat gold-plated FIFA World Cup Trophy.

The team to watch is, of course, Germany, who won the tournament back in 2014 in Brazil.

While your favourite footballers are kicking it on the pitch, you can do some kicking of your own too.

In conjunction with the greatest football show on earth, VIVO is giving Malaysians a chance to live their dream as a pro footballer…in a video game, that is.

Called the VIVO Rah Rah Russia eSports Tournament, you can showcase your skills in FIFA18 and go up against other football-loving Malaysians.

SO, HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you win a match.
A total of 256 players will be selected nationwide and will be divided into 64 groups.

The qualifiers - taking place in Penang, Melaka, Pahang and Kuala Lumpur beginning 14 April – will be played in a round robin format with the top two from each group qualifying for the playoffs.

When all is said and done, the 12 best FIFA18 players from the qualifiers will battle it out in a best-of-three, single elimination format for the top prize.

Here's the tournament schedule:

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?

Bragging rights, of course.

In addition to being crowned the best FIFA18 player in Malaysia, the winner of the tournament will also walk away with a cash prize of RM5,000.

You can do this with the prize money.
And that’s not all: the winner will also win a trip for two to Russia to watch a football match – live in the stands!

Those who finish second to fourth overall will also get rewarded with a cash prize of RM3,000 and RM1,000 respectively.

To sweeten the deal, those who participate in the qualifiers itself will also stand a chance to win up to RM2,000.

Pretty sweet deal, right?

OK, I’M SOLD! WHERE DO I SIGN UP?

Registration is now open, but you got to be quick though because slots are limited. To sign up for the tournament, click this link right here.

What are you waiting for, guys? Grab a couple of friends, sign up for the tournament, flex your FIFA18 muscle and who knows, you and a friend might be heading to Russia to catch a football match.
