Despite the recent trade ban the United States of America enforced on HUAWEI, Malaysians have not been shy in declaring their love for the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, recently said that the country will continue using HUAWEI technology as much as possible during the '25th Conference: The Future of Asia' event in Japan.
At the same time, data shows that HUAWEI's flagship model, the P30 Series, is still selling well in the Malaysian market, according to a source.
It appears that most consumers in Malaysia remain confident towards HUAWEI products amidst the trade ban drama.
After the trade ban announcement, a majority of Malaysian netizens took to their social media pages to show their support for HUAWEI by revealing their recent purchase of the brand’s smartphones.
In addition, there are phenomenons where restaurant owners expressed their ‘anger’ by offering special discounts to HUAWEI users, as well as employees when they dine-in.
In accordance to the recent events, HUAWEI has received major public recognition by Tun Dr Mahathir, as well as growing support from the local consumers.
Here's why Malaysians continue to support the brand despite the trade ban:

Why does Tun Dr Mahathir support Huawei?

The Prime Minister said that HUAWEI had access to research that is “far bigger than the whole of Malaysia’s research equivalent”.
“So we try to make use of their technology as much as possible,” he added during the conference in Tokyo.
“US cannot always be the biggest country in the world. It is impossible to master the best technology forever. We all have to accept this.”
Based on the speech made by Tun Dr Mahathir, it appears that the HUAWEI’s innovation and advancement in technologies have become the core reason for him to accept and support HUAWEI in Malaysia.

The wide recognition of 5G technology

It’s not news that HUAWEI has become immensely popular in the eye of the global news because of its leading innovation in 5G technology. Recently, the Prime Minister expressed his interest and confidence when he received the first 5G call in Malaysia using a Huawei Mate 20X 5G at the Putrajaya 5G showcase rencently; in recognition of HUAWEI’s capability in the related field.
As of now, HUAWEI has signed up to 40 business contracts with a number of operators across the world in relation to the 5G development.

HUAWEI is still going strong. 2. HUAWEI’s Plan B towards the current situation The suspended cooperation between Google and HUAWEI has no effect on the existing smartphone models that are currently in the market. Besides, HUAWEI is evidently showing its readiness and preparedness against the current tension; it appears they have already some plans up their sleeves. As this article goes, Google has again issued a statement in regards to Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s return onto the Android Q test list.
3. Continuous preservation and care for Customer Service Any company or brand that care for their customers will not only put the focus in offering good product, but also look at the need to provide excellent services. Amidst the disarray and tension from the US trade ban, HUAWEI was not affected and remain to launch its activity and campaign to bring benefits to the local consumers.
