Malaysia has ranked 21st on the list of the world’s smartest countries based on the global average IQ score, reflecting the competitive intellectual level of its population on the international stage.
According to data from the International IQ Test 2025, Malaysia recorded an average IQ score of 100.48, surpassing several other developed countries.

The list shows China at the top with a score of 107.19, followed by South Korea (106.43) and Japan (106.4), clearly demonstrating the strong dominance of Asian countries among the world’s top ranks.
Also listed in the top 10 are Iran, Singapore, Russia, Mongolia, Armenia, Australia, and Spain.
Asian countries achieved high positions
Besides Malaysia, several other Asian countries such as Vietnam (100.12), Thailand (101.52), and India (99.08) also achieved encouraging positions, reinforcing the trend of regional dominance in global intelligence assessments.
However, IQ scores are not the sole measure of a nation’s capabilities. Factors such as education, culture, and opportunity also play important roles in determining the true potential of a country’s people.

Overall, the list illustrates that Asian and European countries continue to dominate the top positions in global IQ rankings.
Last year, Malaysia placed third smartest country in Southeast Asia and 22nd globally.
