M’sian Father Allegedly Confronts and Beats Motorcyclist Over Loud Exhaust That Woke His Baby

A local man has gone viral after CCTV footage allegedly showed him assaulting a motorcyclist over a noisy exhaust that woke his baby.

According to reports, the incident occurred at around 1 AM on Sept 25 at a convenience store along Jalan Ismail in Mersing, Johor.

In the viral footage, the man, who was wearing a white shirt, can be seen striking the motorcyclist in the face. He was later seen kicking the victim in the abdomen, causing him to fall near a chiller unit.

Another individual wearing a yellow shirt was seen attempting to intervene, but was unable to stop the altercation.

As if that was not enough, the CCTV footage also showed the man pulling the motorcyclist by his hair before allegedly striking him in the face again. A woman, believed to be the suspect's wife, was seen trying to calm him down while carrying a baby in her arms.

The footage continued for several minutes, showing the man and the motorcyclist engaged in a heated argument as his wife repeatedly attempted to defuse the situation. The couple eventually left the scene.

The victim suffered injuries to his left cheek and abdomen

In a report by Berita Harian, Mersing district police chief Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said the suspect became enraged after claiming the victim had overtaken the vehicle he was travelling in and revved his motorcycle loudly, causing his baby to wake up and cry.

"As a result of the incident, the victim sought treatment at a hospital and was confirmed to have suffered injuries to his left cheek and abdomen."

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

If convicted, the suspect faces up to one year's imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

Police have also advised the public against acting out of anger, warning that impulsive acts of violence can lead to serious consequences.
