While keeping pets may offer companionship, it's also important to remember that it comes with significant responsibilities. For instance, pet owners are expected to clean up after their animals if they relieve themselves in public areas and ensure their pets do not become a nuisance to neighbours.
For one woman in Johor, this responsibility took an unexpected turn when she received a warning letter from the Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) regarding her pet dog. However, the explanation given by the MPK officer left her puzzled.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the woman shared her confusing encounter on social media. Based on the warning letter, she was cited for keeping a dog at her residence without permission and was given 14 days to resolve the issue.
What confused her most was the fact that she had been keeping the dog as a pet for five years before receiving the letter.
“I've been a dog owner for five years and no one has ever complained about it. But the MPK officer told me that I have to ask for my neighbour's permission before having a pet dog.
She added, "I'm the only one with a pet dog. If my neighbours object to it, what should I do?”
The issue has since sparked debate on social media, with users divided in their opinions.
Some found the warning letter absurd, while others shared similar experiences—saying they had to provide signatures when neighbours sought permission to keep dogs.
