According to New Straits Times, Wee Meng Chee — better known as Namewee, 42 — will be called in to assist with the investigation, as he was reportedly the last person seen with the victim before her death.

Hsieh Yu-hsin, also known as Iris Hsieh, was a 33-year-old Taiwanese influencer and former nurse. Among her fans, she was affectionately referred to as the “Nurse Goddess.” She graduated in nursing from the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST).
Reports state that Hsieh arrived in Malaysia on October 20 and was scheduled to stay for four days.
It is understood that Hsieh met Namewee at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur to discuss a potential collaboration for a music video shoot.

However, on 22 October, Hsieh was found dead in the hotel bathroom. It was also reported that Namewee was in the same room at the time of the incident.
According to Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, Hsieh’s death was initially classified as a sudden death report (SDR). However, it has since been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, following new findings that suggest possible foul play.

The investigation now focuses on reconstructing Hsieh’s final days in Malaysia.
“The team has taken statements from hotel staff, security guards, and transport operators, including airport personnel. It’s a comprehensive investigation examining every movement of both the victim and the last person seen with her,” he said.

According to BBC, Namewee was arrested in a hotel room on 22 October, the same day Hsieh’s body was discovered. He later tested positive for several illicit substances, including amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC. Pills believed to be ecstasy were also found in the room.
Although he was remanded for two days, Namewee was subsequently released on bail and has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
