Remember a long, long time ago that a particular car company collaborated with Star Wars? Yeah, we don’t want to be reminded of that – their lack of creativity was disturbing. Now, it looks like Porsche is getting on the same starship by working with Lucasfilm to design a whole new starship. This is much better than making their cars wear tacky stickers.

The brief to the design teams of Porsche and Lucasfilms is a simple one – create a starship with Porsche’s DNA. It is not made clear which Porsche car or Star Wars ship will form the idea, but it is almost safe to say that design cues of the Taycan will appear on the new spacecraft.

But if you look that the sketch, you can see elements of the A-Wing and Eta-2 in the design. The frontend appears as if the wedged nose of the A-Wing is split down the middle. I wonder if these ‘wing’ can be retracted closer to the cockpit. On the wingtips, laser cannons add firepower to this spacecraft.

Two large engine units would make up the rear end of the spacecraft. Either the Novaldex K-88 Event Horizon sublight or an entirely new drive system will power this ship. Expect the spacecraft to rely on deflector shield generator for defence. Kuat Drive Yards should be manufacturing this, seeing as how the A-Wing and Eta-2 are almost made by them.

Porsche and Lucasfilm will unveil the new model at the premiere of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker in December. I’m definitely looking forward to this ‘launch’.
