The Aruz In Singapore Takes Over As The Most Expensive Perodua Globally

Forget sitting down before you hear the price of a Perodua Myvi overseas, you’ll need to lie down before hearing how much its seven-seater sibling Aruz costs over in our southern neighbours; Singapore.

While the Myvi goes for a mind-boggling RM240,000 or so, the Aruz that was just launched over there takes over the dubious crown of being the most expensive Perodua globally at SGD92,999; or RM286,409 in poor people’s money. Of course, the price is inclusive of Singapore’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

Singapore marks the first overseas market for the Aruz and the marque’s first seven-seater offering in the country.

The Aruz over there will be largely identical to ours with the same aluminium-block 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine making 101hp and 133Nm of torque. A four-speed auto drives the front wheels.

Safety comprises stability control and Isofix anchorage points together with six airbags for the full five-star Asean NCAP safety rating. Completing the kit count are LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-start and a touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera display.

Perocom Auto Pte Ltd as the sole authorised Perodua distributor in Singapore will be doing their best to push the Aruz out the doors of their sole outlet. They’ve been official reps of the marque since 1997 and have carried the legendary Kancil, Kembara, Kelisa, first- and third-generation Myvis, Viva, Axia and Bezza across the straits of Johor.

While the Aruz experiences plenty of sales over in Malaysia with close to 58,000 units sold since its debut in 2019, it should prepare for the opposite in Singapore as the pricing puts it on par with other more established marques and their seven-seater offerings.

On the bright side, it won’t be going up against its rebadged twin here, the Toyota Rush, as Singapore is a more developed market and offers the Sienta instead.

Besides Singapore, Perodua also exports its vehicles to Brunei, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Fiji and Indonesia (which rebadges the Myvi as the Daihatsu Sirion).
