The Fast & Furious franchise was always about the cars and the action sequences with them that made Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton turn in their graves. Laws of physics aside, we undoubtedly fondly remember the Japanese machines that’ve graced the screen under its banner.

American muscle features prominently as well but somehow it’s Han’s Veilside Mazda RX-7, Sean’s red Mitsubishi Evo IX, Brian’s orange Toyota Supra and Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R, Suki’s pink Honda S2000 and the Mona Lisa Nissan Silvia S15 that we recall.

One of the most iconic cars from the first movie though was pure American muscle in the form of the Dodge Charger R/T that Vin Diesel’s character; Dominic Toretto, rips in an impromptu drag race with Paul Walker and his aforementioned orange Supra right at the end.

It pulled a wheelie and some distance on the Supra before prompty smashing into a truck and being shredded into pieces. Dom also said he never drove the car prior because it scared the shit out of him. Words to the wise but let’s not dwell on the past.

American muscle has always been Dom’s signature and now the Charger has been immortalised in Lego Technic form. A little disclaimer though, this one won’t run the quarter mile in under 10-seconds and it’ll probably take a lot longer to assemble but on the Brightside, it can wheelie at whim.

The 1,077-piece Technic version of Dom's Charger is as realistic and detailed as we’ve come to expect from the series. Imagine Dom saying “Pop the hood” just like in the movie; and yes you actually can, to find a model V-8 engine, wishbone suspension and a pair of nitrous bottles in the trunk. The steering turns the front wheels and the pistons even move in the engine. Soundtrack sold separately.

However, our favourite part has to be the integrated wheelie stand underneath to relive that iconic drag race start. For $100 (RM430), it should fill the void left by the postponement of Fast 9 until April 2021 due to the Covid-19 virus.

We’re accepting it as Christmas presents.
