The teaser trailer for the ninth installment of the main Fast & Furious series has just been released and it’s lacking some of the core components we’ve come to expect from the series; namely cars, absurd stunts and NOS.
Instead, we get domesticated Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) in full family man mode. He’s shown teaching his son how to wrench on an old tractor in a farm and then tucking the kid into bed, all under the watchful eyes of Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) but none of the other crew members.
Knowing the action-filled franchise, Dom’s slow and steady life will be turned upside down soon and we’ll probably find out how or why when the first full trailer is released this Friday.
That old tractor isn’t the only thing on wheels in the teaser trailer. You’ll catch a snippet of Dom’s Charger parked in a barn, awaiting its call to return to duty.
Fast 9 as it’s tentatively called will see some additional big names cast such as Michael Rooker and Cardi B. They’ll join returning cast members Dame Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron that’ll reprise their roles from The Fate of the Furious.
Four-wheeled cast members should include some new iconic machinery joining the aforementioned Charger. Expect to see a bright orange Toyota GR Supra A90 that’s a tribute to the late Paul Walker’s A80 Supra hero car in the first movie. How do we know this? Well, there’s this.
It’ll be interesting to see who pilots the new orange GR Supra in the movie.
For now though, the teaser’s all we got to speculate on until this Friday.
