Electrification is like a monster rampaging the entire automotive industry with the single-minded mission of crushing and handicapping all internal combustion engines. Whether this is done for the good of the planet or just bowing down to overpowering regulations, the industry is slowly weaning off sucking oil from Mother Earth.

And so, car companies all over the world are generating new names to headline their electrification efforts and tech. Honda have just revealed theirs at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, smashing the champagne bottle on the ship called Honda e:TECHNOLOGY.

Although they’ve been in the field even before the word ‘electrification’ was coined, Honda has always made-do by tagging ‘Hybrid’ and ‘PHEV’ to the models. In future, electrified Honda motorcycles, cars and power products will be denoted by the ‘e:’.

Carrying this new electrified banner for automobiles will be the new-generation Honda Fit (or Jazz, if you like) and the all-new Accord. These cars will be powered by Honda’s latest 2-motor hybrid system, which Honda calls e:HEV. No specifications to how this 2-motor hybrid system works or how much power it will generate.

Honda has schedule the Fit and Accord to go on sale, in Japan, in February 2020. This means there is more information coming down the pipeline soon.
