Honda Malaysia Facelifts Own Insurance Offering, Introduces Enhanced Honda Insurance Plus Package

As with more car companies in Malaysia, Honda also offers an insurance package specifically tailored for the Honda owner. While it does check all the essential roadside-assistance boxes, which most good insurance companies offer, the Honda Insurance Plus (HiP) does not hold back in piling on more benefits. Now, Honda has enhanced the company’s insurance package and centres it around the three pillars of Rescue, Protection and Savings.

One of the services that fall under the Rescue pillar includes 24/7 towing assistance in case of accidents, breakdowns and floods. The car will be towed to any Honda authorised Body & Paint Centre within a 450km round trip from the point of rescue. Roadside repair is always available with free labour of up to RM200 per event, excluding spare parts. Honda owners can also call for assistance in the event of a flat tyre, running out of fuel or replacing a flat battery.

Under Protection, the HiP-covered cars that are repaired at an authorised Honda Body & Paint Centre will enjoy a quick claim pre-approval for claims below RM20,000. All of Honda body and parts replaced are genuine, which comes with a six-month or 10,000km mileage warranty. Machine aside, HiP also give medical assistance such as medical referral and arrangement of appointments, dispatch of medications that are not available locally and evacuation or repatriation if required. As part of the enhancement, HiP members are now entitled to a Personal Accident Coverage of up to RM15,000 in the event of an Accidental Death or Permanent Disability in the Name Vehicle Car accident.

While Rescue and Protection received minor tweaks, it is Savings that has the most changes. To start, the current 100 per cent payout on the agreed value for Honda vehicles for up to 10 years of age has been increased to 13 years. This payout is applicable for cars that are stolen or severely damaged in an accident. Now, the insurance package also includes the Unnamed Driver that covers all drivers under private registration with no additional names and compulsory excess payment required.

Aside from that, members can enjoy a flood allowance of up to RM1,500, special relief allowance of RM1,500 in the event of car theft or total loss and RM1,000 for lost car-key reimbursement. HiP members also get a 100 per cent coverage for ten years with no betterment fee, allowing old damaged parts to be replaced with new original parts.
