If you’ve ever looked at a car and thought to yourself, “Hey, that would look cool as a Hot Wheels model,” that’s precisely what the Hot Wheels Legends Tour is all about. Entering its third year, for obvious reasons the tour will be going virtual with Malaysia it’s first stop on the 2020 tour.

The search is all about immortalising the winner’s custom car into a Hot Wheels diecast model. Last year, the tour pulled in over 110,000 participants and more than 5,000 entries. That was whittled down to 18 finalists before The Nashole took its place atop the lot. Cheeky name aside, the car is a customised 1957 Nash Metropolitan built by Greg Salzillo and Dave Ford.

For obvious reasons, the 2020 tour will be going virtual with Malaysia being the first stop as Art of Speed hosts and presents the exciting event. The winning Malaysian will be announced live on 12 November 2020 at the 1Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor to coincide with the annual Art of Speed show that’ll be held at the same venue from 11-15 November 2020.

If you’re still apprehensive about heading out due to the pandemic, you can catch the livestream of the announcement on the Hot Wheels Facebook page.

Every car builder dreams of having his or her creation immortalised as a Hot Wheels diecast but how exactly do you go about participating in the Hot Wheels legends Tour? Well, we’ve got your back fam.

Participation is just like Hot Wheels diecasts; for everyone. You can submit your builds here by 15 October 2020.

Entries should comprise a two-minute walkaround video of the in a landscape layout with no background music whilst detailing the build and vehicle. Following that, record an additional two-minute video that captures the important full angles of the car for at least five-seconds each as well as the detail shots.

Combine both videos and upload it to YouTube with “Hot Wheels Virtual Legends Tour Malaysia Entry” as part of the title. Also include the hashtag #hotwheelslegends. Lastly, fill up the entry form here and submit it.

If all that’s too much for you, there’s the option of watching Hanis Hamdan detail the entry submission process in video form. You can browse the rules and entry conditions here.

A panel of judges will select the top vehicles to be featured during the 9th Annual Art of Speed Malaysia 2020 on-ground event and will be judging live for the winner. Judges will be looking for elements of creativity, authenticity and indications of some elbow grease from the owners in bringing their custom creations to life.

The finalist from the Malaysian leg will join all other Legends Tour finalists at the Virtual Global Finale in Los Angeles in November for a shot at seeing their creation sold as a 1:64 Hot Wheels diecast model globally.
