Somewhere underneath that patina and a layer of dust is a still-restoring 1954 Jaguar XK120 FHC, believe it or not. This car is living on a farm in Wales for the past 50 years, no doubt hidden in a barn. We don’t think this Jaguar was hidden behind a false wall because its owner has been restoring it bit by bit.
This XK120 FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) is a rare car with only 151 right-hand drive examples are made for the UK market. It is believed that only 57 still exists today and the one you see here is one of them. More importantly, this Jaguar still rides on its original chassis and engine.
In its day, the Jaguar XK120 FHC was the world’s fastest production car, achieving a top speed of 120mph. The Jaguar is powered by a 160hp 3.4-litre straight-6 XK engine, which was ahead of its time.
Jaguar Heritage has certified this XK — manufactured on March 16, 1954, finished initially in Birch Grey with a grey leather interior.
Although a pristine condition Jaguar Xk120 FHC can fetch about GBP100,000, the auction house expects this car to bring an estimate of GBP25,000 to GBP35,000. The auction will be held online only from 20 November to 27 November 2019, at 8pm.
