Provocative styling is what Lexus does best, and the Japanese luxury carmaker seems to have taken it one step further. And appears that Lexus is at their best when crafting the UX, which makes cousin CH-R look vanilla in comparison.

The UX showcases the Engawa design elements inspired by traditional Japanese architecture that connects the outside and the inside. Sashiko, not to be confused with Sadako, is a Japanese stitching technique that brings together the upholstery. The UX also features a new trim grain finish inspired by the Japanese paper called Washi.

Putting momentum into the UX is the 2.0-litre engine that produces 169hp and 205Nm. A 10-speed Direct Shift CVT gearbox sends power to the front wheels only.

The UX is built on the latest Global Architecture-C Platform, which essentially is the TNGA. You can dive in expecting delightful handling coupled with a sublime ride. The Lexus Safety System (LSS+) will do its best to keep it, and everyone in it, as safe as possible.

There will be people who’ll want the UX; this goes without saying. Lexus Malaysia has begun taking orders for the UX. The luxury compact SUV comes in three levels of trim, each with its appropriate pricing – RM243,888 for the UX 200 Urban, RM283,888 for the UX 200 Luxury and RM299,888 for the UX 200 F Sport.

You know what to do if you want to be the first to own the Lexus UX.
