The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe exists because there are people who think the four-door version is too business-like, which hits the brief. Although the E-Class Coupe doesn’t abandon all the trappings of a luxurious vehicle, sanding down the rear and deleting two doors seem to make the car less uptight. Think buttoned-down shirt and rolled-up sleeves.

In essence, the E-Class E 300 AMG Line Coupe is identical in features to the limousine. So it runs with the same 2.0-litre engine tuned to produce 258hp and 370Nm and paired with the 9G-Tronic transmission for power distribution. The Coupe is also equipped with the Agility Control suspension system.

As you’d expect, this Coupe also has all the exterior trimmings from the AMG Line catalogue, including the AMG front and rear spoiler, diamond grille pins in chrome and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke wheels. Multibeam LED and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus make sure the Coupe can see and be seen at night.

There are two highlights found on the Coupe’s exterior. The first is the redesigned taillights to suit the muscular rear. The Coupe is also devoid of a B-pillar, making this E-Class unique in its class. The panoramic sliding sunroof seems to pair very well with the pillar-less car, effectively opening the interior to the world outside.

Inside, the E-Class Coupe is finished with all the quality and luxury expected of the brand. Interior features include ambient lighting with 64 colours and three zones for individual highlights and the Burmester surround sound system. The latest MBUX, NTG 6, is programmed into the car as well.

As for safety, the E-Class Coupe is equipped with the same intelligent steering as the E 300 AMG Line, which works on a capacitive basis. In addition, the Coupe comes standard with the Driving Assistance package that includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Evasive Steering Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist to name a few.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 300 AMG Line is priced at RM495,071.47 until the end of the year. Financing is available, and it starts from RM4,288 monthly with a 10 per cent downpayment for a five-year tenure.
