The government is mandating Euro 4M standards for RON95 petrol and the move comes into effect 1 January 2020. Petronas though has gone a step further and introduced the new requirements into its Primax 95 with Pro-Drive fuel at all stations nationwide since 24 December 2019.

Euro 4M RON95 fuel introduces a lower sulphur content of just 50 parts per million (ppm) as opposed to the previous Euro 2M RON95 standard of 500ppm.

Petronas has also gone the extra mile with its new Euro 4M-spec Primax 95 with Pro-Drive fuel by reducing the benzene content from 3.5 per cent to just 3.0 per cent. Furthermore, it reduced the vapour pressure as well to 65kPa; a seven per cent reduction from the Euro 2M standards.

“With this upgrade, our customers will not just enjoy a smoother, more responsive and efficient drive but also a cleaner fuel which works together with today’s modern vehicles in reducing air pollution to deliver both health and climate benefits,” said Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed M Tahir, MD and CEO of Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB).

So, if you felt that your vehicle has been a little peppier after filling up over the Christmas holiday at Petronas, now you know why.
