Prior to this, if your private vehicle’s road tax has been expired for over a year you’ll need to undergo the special inspection at Puspakom in order to renew your road tax. In lieu of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent financial difficulties for some quarters of the community, the Transport Ministry has extended the period to three years/36 months before requiring an inspection.

According to the Transport Ministry, there are over 4.27 million vehicles with expired road tax within said timeframe of one to three years.

If your private vehicle’s road tax has surpassed three years, you’ll need to undergo the special inspection either at a Puspakom centre or via the Mobile Van inspection that also caters for transfer-of-ownership inspection but not the hire-purchase inspection.

So, if you’re not keen on visiting the Puspakom centre for the special inspection, just give them a call and make an appointment for the Mobile Van to come to you and get the inspection done.

You can peruse the requirements for the special inspection here and the mobile inspection here before making an appointment.
