If any cars in the Volkswagen range is appropriate for this project, it would undoubtedly be the Arteon for merely having the word ‘art’ in its name. This project — a collaboration with Wei-Ling Gallery — is an extension of the 18@8 Turning Points exhibition.

The 18@8 Turning Points exhibition ‘explores the 13 artists’ pasts through different philosophical, technical and aesthetic approaches, in the form of thought-provoking art pieces that reflected on this ideology.’ The Arteon vehicles are used as an extension of the exhibition and links directly to the artists’ original pieces.

The Volkswagen Arteon used in this exhibition will be auctioned, and the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA). Do note that it won’t be the full-sized vehicle you’ll be bidding on but a scale model, so the pieces will definitely have a place on the shelf.

You can view and bid on all thirteen cars on the project’s website, www.arteonartcar.com. Or, you can make an appointment to view the pieces yourself at the Wei-Ling Contemporary, The Gardens Mall. Bidding closes on 1 October 2020 at 5pm.

If you’re more interested in the real thing, the Arteon R-Line is priced at RM225,490, and it is slightly cheaper now with the current sales tax break that will last till the end of the year. We’ve covered the Arteon’s launch; you can read more about the Volkswagen here.
