An issue with the hydraulic pressure accumulator within the seven-speed dual clutch transmission that’s found on most Volkswagen models has compelled Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) to announce a voluntary recall for the models suspected to be affected.
A total of 12,732 Volkswagen vehicles will need to be inspected. The models are the Beetle, Cross Touran, Golf (Mk6 and Mk7), Jetta, Passat (B7), Passat CC, Polo (6R) and Scirocco produced between 2011 and 2015.
Failure of the component can lead to possible pressure loss in the system, resulting in an interruption of power delivery between the engine and transmission.
VPCM will execute the campaign in phases to better manage the workflow with identified owners being notified via mail. Of course, owners themselves are encouraged to visit the Volkswagen website or call their customer careline at 1-800-18-8947 to check if their vehicle falls under the recall.
Following confirmation of an inspection required, owners can proceed to contact any authorised Volkswagen service centre to book an appointment and have their vehicle inspected and parts replaced, if necessary. VPCM has ensured that parts availability won’t be an issue as well as bearing all costs in the event of the part needing replacement.
All Volkswagen models that require the component replaced will be entitled to it. This includes the pre-owned owners as well as those that have stopped servicing at Volkswagen authorised service centres following the end of the warranty period. As long as the VIN number checks out, they are good to go.
