After eight season, one of the most popular series has come to an end, leaving a 'Game Of Thrones'-sized hole in our lives.

While many will agree that the final season was pretty disappointing, there is no denying that for the most part the show was one of the best written and visualised ones ever produced.

But now that the show has ended, what do we do with our Monday evening (or mornings if you get to watch it then)?

Well, whether you want to watch something similar or something completely different to get over GoT, here's a list of shows you can catch to somewhat fill in the void left by the series.

'Dead To Me'

If you want to take a break from all the power-struggle, politics, rape and murder but still want something slightly dark, this show is for you.

The story revolves around the more uptight Christina Applegate and free-spirited Linda Cardellini, who meet at a grief support group.

There's a lot of emphasis on the different forms grief takes (obviously), friendship and comedy in the story, and the mix works surprisingly well.

The ratings has been high for the show. You can watch Season 1 on Netflix, but we have to warn you that there's no confirmation of a new season so be prepared to be left hanging (but looking at the ratings, that might not be the case).

'Vikings'

If you can't get over 'Game of Thrones' and want something similar, then 'Vikings' is definitely a show you should catch.

It has it all - politics, violence, history - and the best part is, it's based on true events.

The story revolves around farmer Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), who becomes the king of Denmark.

You'd think as a commoner who was probably affected by the whims of the monarchs would make him a good king, but nope. He often terrorises people of France and England with raids, and violent ones at that.

There are other major characters in the show and subplots as well that will keep you glued to your televisions.

'The Handmaid's Tale'

Now, if you like your stories as dark as your soul, you're going to love this series.

The first season was based on a book with the same title by Margaret Atwood, updated to more modern times but the next seasons followed a path of their own as, similar to 'Game of Thrones', there were no more books for the series to be based on.

Set in the fictional city of Gilead, formerly United State, run by a bunch of religious extremist, the story revolves around Offred and the family she lives with.

Offred is one of the handmaids a.k.a sex slaves who are sent to the homes of the rich and powerful to breed for the family (the world fertility rate has dropped and babies were rare in this world).

It gets dark and twisted, with some of the parts difficult to watch especially for those who have experienced sexual violence. Stop watching if it starts affecting you negatively.

'Outlander'

Yet another series based on books (why don't we just read the books?), this story is about Claire Randall, a World War II nurse, who accidentally time travels to 18th century Scotland.

There's plenty of fighting (war times and all) and sex involved, all with the backdrop of different historical times.

It's not as violent as 'Game of Thrones' but the dramatic level makes up for the lack of gore.

'American Gods'

If like us, you were a little confused by the gods in 'Game of Throne's and their role in the story (we mean, what did the God of Light really want? What about the other Gods?), you'd be happy to know that the gods in this series know exactly what they want and will do the necessary to get them.

The story starts the day after the release of Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is released from prison and meets the eccentric character Mr Wednesday, who offers him a job.

After a series of event, Shadow finally agrees, only to be embroiled in a world where magic, the old and new gods and everything people would think is impossible is actually real.

There's a lot of issues with the production of Season 2, but the first season is still worth a watch!

The time has come to get hooked to a new television series. Enjoy!
