This year the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) were held on 29 August at the Prudential Center in New Jersey and arguably the biggest girl group on earth, BLACKPINK were in attendance, shining on the red carpet in all-black ensembles.

Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé showed off their own unique beauty and styles, representing the luxury fashion houses Celine, Dior, Chanel, and YSL respectively.

Despite it being their first ever U.S. awards show, they managed to pick up the trophy for Best Metaverse Performance for ‘PUBG Mobile’. The group recently released their addictive bop ‘Pink Venom’ in their long awaited comeback that has broken numerous records including becoming the most-viewed debut music video of 2022 on YouTube with a whopping 90.4 million views in the first 24 hours of the video being released.

They also killed it as usual with a live performance of ‘Pink Venom’:

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK member Lisa managed to bag a trophy for ‘Best K-pop Video’ for her debut single ‘Lalisa’.

As the award was only introduced in 2019, only K-pop group BTS has won the trophy so far. This makes her the first solo K-pop act, first female, and first Thai to win the award. Her own group BLACKPINK have also previously been nominated for the award.

In her acceptance speech, the Thai beauty thanked her producer Teddy, her entertainment agency YG Entertainment, and the BLACKPINK fandom BLINK. She also didn’t miss out on thanking her fellow members for their support as they cheered her on enthusiastically, speaking in English, Thai and Korean.

Congratulations to BLACKPINK! The group will be heading to KL for their first ever concert in Malaysia on 4 March 2023 for their world tour ‘Born Pink’.
