The hardest part about being a fan of a K-pop boy group or male idol is when they enlist in the military.

BTS’ j-hope is currently in the midst of his mandatory military service, but ARMYs can look forward to new music and a documentary from the superstar soon.

On 18 February 2024, j-hope celebrated his birthday with a rare Instagram post with the caption ‘happy hobi day’ (referring to his nickname).

He posted an image of himself posing with a birthday cake, celebrating with his comrades, and banners which were hung by ARMYs for him.

ARMYs also rejoiced on his birthday as BIGHIT music made an official announcement that a new special album with six new tracks from the BTS member and an accompanying docuseries will be released on 29 March 2024 at noon.

Hope on the Street

The docuseries, titled ‘HOPE ON THE STREET’ is produced by HYBE and will be available on Prime Video in Malaysia and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on 28 March. 6 episodes will be released weekly every Thursday and Friday.

The docuseries will highlight j-hope’s story and love for dancing as he begins a new journey in his 12th year since debut, returning to his dancer roots.

J-hope is known to have spent his pre-debut years as an underground dancer during which he studied and trained with renowned street dancers.

Accompanied by his former instructor, the popping champion Boogaloo Kin, j-hope explores the streets of Osaka, Seoul, Paris, New York, and Gwangju, meeting inspiring street dancers along the way.

Also known as AKIN, Boogalo is a famous South Korean street dancer and a social media star.

He is a member of the dance crew, World Fame Us, that won the 2017 K.O.D World Cup dance competition. J-hope has previously cited him as his role model when he was young.
