Long after her death, legendary director Yasmin Ahmad continues to inspire Malaysians with her very Malaysian stories.

Liver&Lung, a Malaysian-based theater company is adapting one of Yasmin's most iconic stories, 'Sepet', for stage.

The love story between VCD seller Jason and Malay school kid Orked is one that many Malaysians remember fondly, and we're really excited to watch the story retold with the addition of songs to go with the story.

Founder of Liver&Lung, Shafeeq Shajahan, said the team is honoured to pay homage to this Malaysian film, a cultural milestone in our country’s cinematic history.

"The various themes that the great Yasmin Ahmad strung together still hold deep relevance for us even 14 years after its debut.

"We are remaining true to the source material and introducing authentically-Malaysian music and lyrics, reigniting its timeless narrative for a new generation of Malaysians,” Shafeeq, who is also the play's director, added.
