Did You Know That This ‘Crash Landing On You’ Actor Has Malaysian Blood?
Thanks to the Movement Control Order (MCO), some of us who have never or initially would never watch any K-dramas have succumbed to it.
And we know that a lot of you out there are currently binge-watching (or probably would have binge-watched) arguably the most popular K-drama in Malaysia at the moment - ‘Crash Landing On You’.
Most of you may be busy ogling over Captain Ri Jung Hyeok, played by Hyun Bin, but for some of us, it’s the awesome supporting cast members that caught our attention.
And one of them is Captain Ri’s youngest subordinate, Geum Eun-Dong played by Tang JunSang.
A Malaysian fan recently made a discovery that links Tang to us – his father is actually a Malaysian!
The Malaysian connection
Tengok Crash Landing On You ni, aku paling suka Geum EunDong. Comel je kanak-kanak perangai. Rupanya dia menang budak lagi. Baru 16 years old and ... Surprisingly his father is Malaysian. ?
No wonder his last name is Tang. pic.twitter.com/V18llN1Qrm— Penjual Sanitizer (@neyrashazeyra) April 14, 2020
According to Kpopmap, the young actor is one of only five people in South Korea with the surname Tang, which is an unusual name in the land of K-pop.
In an interview with Xportsnews, the 16-year-old explained about his name and background.
“I am Korean and it is my real name. Because my last name is special, it seems like a lot of people will remember my name.”
“I am also the only son. My father is Malaysian-Chinese and my mother is a Korean born in a multi-cultural family.”
However, he did not specify where exactly his father is from or whether he has been to Malaysia before.
Well, who knows, one day he’ll probably make a trip and ‘balik kampung’ to his father’s hometown one day.
