Ever since Disney+ was launched in the United States earlier this year, we Malaysians have been drowning in jealousy, as we weren’t able to watch all of the classic and cool new series (read: Marvel Cinematic Universe) on the streaming platform.

Well, our time may just come soon, as a new hire for Disney+ is actually a fellow Malaysian who is pretty well known in the media industry.

From Malaysia to the House Of Mouse

According to Variety, The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia has appointed Ahmad Izham Omar as the Executive Director of Content and Creative for Disney+ effective immediately.

Luckily Singapore is just next door...
Ahmad Izham was the former chief executive officer of Primeworks Studios, a media company under Media Prima.

He will be based in Singapore for his new role.

He will be responsible for developing and producing original programming, as well as acquiring content and ensuring end-to-end title launch readiness on top of overseeing the production of surround content for major sports and general entertainment programs.

So, who knows, we might see a lot of Malaysian stuff on Disney+ down the road.

The 50-year-old has an impressive list of achievements throughout his career including launching 8TV, Tonton, and even worked with artistes including Faizal Tahir, Siti Nurhaliza, and Too Phat.

Please come to Malaysia soon!
Disney+ is only available in a few select countries at the moment, and that includes Indonesia, which is the only country in Southeast Asia to have access to the streaming platform.

Now all that’s left is to wish Ahmad Izham congratulations and may this appointment bring Malaysians one step closer to getting Disney+!
