Ever since the government announced a new set of pandemic guidelines late last year, the Malaysian event and music industry returned in full swing. Local gigs are happening every weekend and big names such as Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish will be coming to KL this year alone.

But the thirst for live events doesn’t stop there. In April, Ahmad Dhani of the legendary Dewa 19 band announced that they’ll be returning to Malaysia this September, alongside former members and guests artists Once Mekel, Ari Lasso and more.

The band was on our shores in 2019 for the Dewa 19 Reunion show but was hampered by Ahmad Dhani’s absence, as the head honcho was arrested for alleged hate speech and was replaced by his son, Dul Jelani.

The tickets for the show were open for public purchase yesterday and were sold out within the hour. For a legacy band with no permanent vocalist and new songs in recent times, that’s an amazing feat. As thousands of fans rejoiced, a section of them was upset after failing to secure tickets for the show scheduled to be held at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil.

Due to the overwhelming demand from fans, Ahmad Dhani and the band decided to add another day to their 30th anniversary celebration show. The tickets will be available for purchase at 3PM today.

Dewa 19 isn’t the only hot-selling Indonesian band in Malaysia currently. Their younger counterparts Fourtwnty also sold out Zepp KL earlier in the month. Fourtwnty, famous for their hits ‘Fana Merah Jambu’ and ‘Aku Tenang’ is a crowd-favorite among indie listeners.

Disco duo Diskoria will also be serenading the halls of REXKL with their disco classics next month with tickets still available for purchase now.

If you wish to purchase Dewa 19 ticket, make sure you’re lined up and ready for it because it’s about to be another round of queuing - but if you’re a fan, an hour wait is not a problem, right?

Purchase your ticket here at 3pm.
