The prestigious 89th Academy Awards happened in full swing today at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and was hosted by funny man Jimmy Kimmel.

A lot of interesting things happened throughout the show – Viola Davis became the first African-American to win an Oscar, Tony, and Emmy Award; someone pulled a Steve Harvey moment during the Best Picture award presentation and oh, did we mention how Justin Timberlake amazingly got the whole theatre to party with him and sing along to “Can’t Stop The Feeling” during his opening number?

Well, prior to that entertaining, hyped-up ‘party’ and award ceremony, the red carpet event took place right outside the Dolby Theatre. That was where you get to see all the Hollywood A-listers, directors and producers making their way into the venue while flaunting their designer gowns and suits, and occasionally giving out interviews to the press members who were present.

This year, one lucky fellow Malaysian got the opportunity to be our local correspondent at the Oscars red carpet event. He is none other than… Nabil Ahmad!

Nabil is a stand-up comedian, actor, radio announcer, and TV host. He has hosted numerous local award shows in the past therefore making him the perfect candidate for the job.

The thought of Nabil rubbing shoulders and mingling with some of our favourite Hollywood stars kind of makes us green with envy, but we can’t help to feel happy and proud for him.

Thanks to Instagram, we now know that Nabil rubbed shoulders with Channel E! host Jason Kennedy and arguably one of the hottest TV hosts on Earth, Mario Lopez. He also had the opportunity to meet Samuel L. Jackson and interview Jackie Chan!

Even though it looked like he was having the time of his life in LA, he admitted later that his job wasn’t as easy as it seems.

“It’s very tiring, you have to be there from 9am to 5pm, and nobody gets to leave the interview pen,” he told Era FM in an interview this morning.

Well, for that once in a lifetime opportunity, we certainly don’t mind getting ‘locked up’ there the whole day.

We at Rojak Daily would like to congratulate Nabil on this milestone in his career. Malaysia boleh!
