If you grew up in the 2000s, you’d definitely be familiar with the comic book titled ‘Lawak Kampus’.

The comic series created by Keith Chong tells the tale of a group of friends in secondary school and their menacing adventures.

Vanness, Froggy, Aditas, and Bepop were among the few who have brightened our childhood and soon their story would be seen on TV screens.

Lil Critter Studio has recently acquired the rights to from publishing giant Kadokawa Gempak Starz (Gempak Starz) to develop comic series ‘Lawak Kampus’ into an anime TV series.

“The ‘Lawak Kampus’ anime TV series will be targeting kids and families in the Asia Pacific territories, in ten-minute laugh out loud episodes,” the studio said in a statement.

“The series aims to explore the themes of relationships, inclusion, self-acceptance during one’s school years.”

No word yet on when the series will be released or who will star in it.

Nevertheless, fans were thrilled over the news which went viral on social media overnight.

Since the comic’s inception in 2003, ‘Lawak Kampus’ has sold over 6.5 million copies in Malaysia alone and has readers from across the Southeast Asian region in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and China.

We can’t wait to see this hilarious comic book coming to life on the small screen.
