Remember during a concert when your favourite singer shouts "Apa khabar, Malaysia?" or "Saya cinta kamu" and we all go crazy because OMG, they were speaking our local language?

If we were easily entertained bya Bahasa Malaysia phrase, can you imagine how crazy excited we will get if the singer performs an entire song in BM?

Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal did exactly just that recently, and needless to say, Malaysians are in love!

'A for effort'

A gallant effort!
During her maiden concert in Kuala Lumpur recently, Ghoshal stunned the audience when she belted out Malaysian pop darling Datuk Seri Nurhaliza’s "Cindai".

According to a report by Malay Mail, she delivered the popular Malay number after members of the media requested her to sing a Malay song during her press conference.

While she was nervous in her attempt, Ghoshal jokingly quipped: “I know you all will give me an A for effort.”

Check out her attempt below:
What did Malaysians think about her attempt? They loved it, of course:

Her two-hour performance included songs like "Sunn Raha Hai" from the movie ‘Aashiqui 2’ -- which won her Best Female Playback Singer in the International Indian Film Awards 2019 -- and AR Rahman’s music composition of "Munbe Vaa" from ‘Sillunu Oru Kaadhal’ and "Mannipaaya" from ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’.

The singer, who has her own wax figure displayed at the Madame Tussauds wax museum, has won four Kerala State Film Awards, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards in her career.

In fact, her work is also recognised in Ohio, United States, with Governor Ted Strickland having declared 26 June as ‘Shreya Ghoshal Day’.

Judging by her performance, we say it's very well deserved! ❤
