It's been awhile since most of us have seen Joseph Gordon-Levitt on screen. Not in anything new at least.

The actor is back on screen with Apple TV+'s 'Mr Corman' and not just as the lead actor. He is also the creator, writer, director and producer of the show.

We only managed to catch the first two episodes of the show before its release today (6 August 2021), but so far it looks promising.

Relatable

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in and as 'Mr Corman'
'Mr Corman' tells the story of fifth grade teacher Josh Corman whose dream of musician didn't pan out. He struggles with anxiety, loneliness, self-doubt and a general feeling of sadness.

He is living with his high school friend after his ex-fiancé moves out. A scene at the beginning of the show where he is sitting unhappily with a bunch of friends who are playing video games, smoking a bong and talking about their financial struggles, among others, bring to the fore the issues many millennials can relate to - being stuck financially and perhaps emotionally as well.

Dark the show maybe but it's not all doom and gloom. Corman still recognises that he has a lot to be thankful for and looks beyond himself for some kind of positivity.

We haven't reach the part yet, but the show also is expected to incorporate the COVID-19 pandemic and the main characters struggles with in later on.

The story is also not told entirely from Cormans point of views, but there are episodes where the story is told from the point of view of other characters.

We're looking forward to catching more episodes of 'Mr Corman' to see how he deals with essentially many of the same emotions and issues young people nowadays do.

'Mr Corman' also stars Arturo Castro, Debra Winger, Bobby Hall a.k.a. Logic, Hector Hernande, Juno Temple, Jamie Chung and Shannon Woodward.
