Many Malaysians may be unaware of this fact, but renowned contemporary fashion label Self-Portrait which has been worn by the likes of Beyoncé and Kate Middleton was founded by Penang-born fashion designer Han Chong. Blackpink’s Jisoo has also regularly donned their feminine designs and she has now excitingly been announced as the newest face of Self-Portrait.

The London-based label announced that Jisoo is their global brand ambassador, and she fronts their latest Spring/Summer 2024 campaign. Their previous representatives include mega stars such as Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski. Blinks and anyone who has their pulse on the fashion world will know that Jisoo is also the global ambassador of Dior. However, she has often also sported Self-Portraits designs during her performances, concerts, and music videos.

Stunning photos

The South Korean singer and actress stunned in a series of photos from the campaign, which were released on their official Instagram page. Jisoo also shared the post on her personal Instagram page @sooyaaa__ which currently has 77.5 million followers. Self-Portrait also stated in an Instagram post, “The new partnership, which sees Jisoo wearing a series of dresses from self-portrait’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, marks the first time the fashion house has worked with a musician to front its campaigns.”

“We first started working with Jisoo many years ago, dressing her both on and off the stage, so having her front our campaign was a natural next step - it encapsulates the trajectory of the relationships we strive to nurture with those that we are fortunate enough to work with, said Han Chong, Founder & Creative Director of Self-Portrait.

He added, “Watching Jisoo’s journey to becoming a global icon has been so inspiring not only to me, but to a legion of fans. She is a role model to so many - kind, inspiring, sensitive and a pillar of strength - I wanted her beauty, both inside and out, to be front and centre of this first series of portraits we shot together in Seoul.”

They also shared images of billboards of the campaign being put up in Chance Street E1, London which adorned the side of a building.
