2022 is the year of TV shows, both internationally and domestically. TV fans were treated with a GoT prequel House of the Dragon, another mind-bending chapter of Stranger Things and the much-anticipated final seasons of Better Call Saul and Peaky Blinders all in one year.

Locally, Malaysians enjoyed a stellar line of TV shows for 2022, which we will dive deeper into in a different article later. Unsurprisingly, one of the biggest hit thrillers this year, One Cent Thief, was included in NME’s Best Asian TV Shows list as part of their Best of 2022 category.

Created for television by Alfie Palermo, One Cent Thief is based loosely on Jutawan Satu Sen, a crime legend that shook the country in the early 90s after a media outlet claimed he took only one cent from every account he stole from while working at the bank. We wrote a review on the show here.

Starring Syafiq Kyle, Amerul Affendi, Faizal Hussein, Sofia Jane and more, One Cent Thief became one of the most talked about TV shows on social media this year. The show is the only Malaysian representative on the list.

Other TV shows on the list include anime Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man and Mob Psycho 100, South Korea’s Pachinko, Tomorrow and Extraordinary Attonery Woo alongside Singapore’s whodunnit flick, Mani. Read the full article here.

Congratulations One Cent Thief for the outstanding achievement!
