It's not very often we see an actor or a singer retiring from their craft at the height of their success, but popular US rapper Nicki Minaj decided to do just that.

Yep, that's right; Nicki Minaj has just announced her retirement from music.


Yahoo Music reported that the 36-year-old, who is reportedly engaged to music executive Kenneth Petty, has announced that she would be retiring to focus on family.

Minaj broke the news via a tweet from her Twitter account on Friday (5 September):


"I've decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, X in the box - cuz ain't nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE,” she tweeted.

With mega-hits like "Super Bass", "Anaconda" and "Starships", the singer has established herself as one of the world's biggest female rappers.
