If you’re a fan of James Wan's movies, you’ll definitely be familiar with some of his horror films such as ‘The Conjuring’, ‘Annabelle’ and ‘The Nun’, which are all part of the Conjuring universe.

And in the ‘Conjuring’ universe, you’ll recognise the two titular characters – Ed and Lorraine Warren, two paranormal investigators who investigate other-worldly hauntings and demonic beings.

In case you didn't know, these two characters are actually based on a real-life couple, whose names are also Ed and Lorraine Warren. The storyline in all of Wan's movies was inspired by the Lorraines' real-life cases.

So, you could say that without them, there would not be Annabelle and the likes.

Which James Wan movie is your favourite?
However, it seems that the ‘Conjuring’ universe will never be the same again as James Wan’s main muse, the real Lorraine Warren, passed away over the weekend at age 92.

Ed, meanwhile, passed away back in 2006.

"It is with deep sadness that I must announce that Lorraine Warren has passed away. She died peacefully in her sleep at home last night. The family requests that you respect their privacy at this time," Lorraine’s son-in-law Tony Spera said in a statement on Friday, 19 April.

RIP Lorraine.
‘Conjuring’ cast members Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson both paid tributes to Warren via social media following her death.

James also penned a heartfelt post for Lorraine.

“Really saddened by the news of Lorraine Warren’s passing. She was truly one of the sweetest, loving and caring person I’ve ever met — beaming with the brightest spirit,” the Malaysian-Australian director wrote.

“She’s with Ed now. In heaven. Onto their next adventure.”

(Photo from the set of The Conjuring, 2012) Really saddened by the news of Lorraine Warren’s passing. She was truly one of the sweetest, loving and caring person I’ve ever met — beaming with the brightest spirit. I feel very fortunate to have met her, gotten to know her and her wonderful family, and I’m truly honoured to have been the one to showcase a slice of her incredible life story to the world. For someone who spent her whole life dealing with the afterlife, she gave me the impression she was never fazed by death. Maybe it’s knowing that there’s something more after our time is over on this earth. My condolences and love to her family. There’ll never be another Lorraine Warren. She was truly one of a kind. She’s with Ed now. In heaven. Onto their next adventure.
