Rojak Recommends: Exceptional K-dramas To Watch in June
Finished watching all the current K-dramas on your streaming services? Personally, we are not impressed by the current rotation of K-dramas airing at the present. The only one really worth watching is the omnibus-styled ‘Our Blues’ that has us experiencing all sorts of feels. It features a star-studded cast including Lee Byung Hun, Shin Min Ah, Kim Woo Bin, and more but even that is coming to a close (cries in Korean).
Happily, there are many new shows to look forward to this month. Read on to find out which Korean actors you will probably be changing your phone wallpapers to!
Alchemy of Souls
Lee Jae Wook is a fast-rising star and this is first drama since leaving VAST Entertainment under Hyun Bin’s wing, so fans are curious to see if he will fare well in this tvN drama under C-JeS Entertainment.
Starring opposite him is Jung So Min, who has always impressed with her chemistry with her male leads in the past.
The famous Hong sisters, the minds behind ‘Hotel Del Luna’ and ‘Master’s Sun’ penned the script, so you know that this fantasy romance drama with comedy thrown into the mix is definitely one to keep an eye out for. Besides Lee Jae Wook, NU’EST’s Hwang Min Hyun also promises to serve up some eye candy this 18th June.

Yumi’s Cells Season 2
K-dramas usually air for only single seasons but shows with multiple seasons such as The Penthouse: War in Life are slowly becoming the norm which means that we get to welcome back characters we have grown to love! Season 1 of Yumi’s Cells aired last year with Kim Go Eun starring as Yumi, an ordinary office worker and Ahn Bo Hyun as her male lead.
This 10th June, Got7’s Park Jin Young reprises his role as Bobby who is trying to work his way into becoming the new love of Yumi’s life and replaces Ahn Bo Hyun as male lead.
Based on the much-loved webtoon of the same name, the TVING drama was the first of its kind to combine live-action and 3D animation. The adorable animated ‘cells’ which provide an insight into Yumi’s thoughts are back to charm viewers and we are wondering what sort of hijinks they will be up to next!

Eve
Seo Ye Ji who shot to fame after ‘It’s Okay To Be Not Okay’, all but disappeared from the public eye after the much publicised scandal with Kim Jung Hyun. She is back to the small screen this 1st June with romance, revenge, and of course, ‘chaebols’ as part of the plot of ‘Eve’.
As William Congreve once wrote: ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’, and Seo Ye Ji as Lee Ra El has spent 13 years devising her revenge in a lawsuit against Kang Yoon Gyeom played by Park Byung Eun worth two trillion won (approximately RM 7 billion). It will be interesting to watch if audiences will welcome back the star who has fallen from grace.
The drama also stars Yoo Sun and Lee Sang Yeob.
