KL and Klang Valley are blessed with great burger options. From your roadside Ramlys to adorable fine dining replications, Malaysians know and love their burgers, which is also a clear impact of American pop culture.

Well, aside from commercial fast food joints, rap music and superhero movies, the USA has one more thing to offer - Pasadena Burger & Coffee. Located strategically in Mont Kiara where most expatriates reside, Pasadena Burger wears the crown for the juiciest patties in the area and for a good reason.

One of the reasons? Their all-new A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Burger. If you’re unfamiliar with Wagyu grades, A5 is one of the best in the world, strictly graded by the Japanese Meat Grading Association. However, that level of quality comes with quite a price. Currently, the burger is priced at RM108.

THE BURGER

Thankfully, the short trip to Mont Kiara was a fulfilling one. The burger was served with imported brioche buns, fresh salad and a slab of American cheese; all stacked and grilled to perfection.

Looking at how greasy it turned out to be (in all the good ways), Pasadena might want to reconsider a different kind of sheet to wrap it with as the meat juice was dripping all over - no sauce needed whatsoever!

FIRST BITE

To fit IG Reels’ 90-second rule, we had to cut out Ze’s pre-first bite reaction which was: ‘this looks heavenly and frankly, I can’t wait to get to heaven!’ and goodness, his remarks were spot on.

The meat was beyond tender; it was soft, juicy and melted in our mouths as fast as butter on a frying pan. The surfaces were seared long enough to make the patty crispy and enjoyable with every bite.

The simple, neutral and slightly milky taste of the brioche buns allowed the Wagyu to fully flourish with all its might. The salad helped balance the explosive taste of the Wagyu while the cheese offers a chalky finishing to an already well-rounded affair.

All in all, the Miyazaki Wagyu Burger from Pasadena Burger is a level above the rest, mostly because of the meat itself. Fortunately, Pasadena decided against bathing the burger with different sauces because the meat itself is powerful enough to stand on its own two feet.
