If you haven’t heard of the Sarawakian cosplayer Hakken, you must’ve been living under a rock, and you can read all about them here. Hakken makes waves wherever they go, and previously when they attended the Symphonic Anime concert at the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), fans went wild just by catching sight of them. Now, Hakken, who has also been appointed as Tokyo Tourism Ambassador by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in Japan, will be taking part in the upcoming Symphonic Anime IV at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.

The concerts are part of the MPO’s 25th-anniversary celebrations and are the fourth instalment of the wildly popular Symphonic Anime series. The show is set to be led by resident conductor Naohisa Furusawa and will feature iconic anime soundtracks from Studio Ghibli such as ‘Merry Go Round’ from Howl’s Moving Castle, ‘The Path of Wind’ from My Neighbour Tototo, and ‘One Summer Day’ from Spirited Away, all written by notable Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi. Other popular compositions included in the programme are ‘Above’ and ‘Team Potential’ from Haikyuu!! and ‘Kingdom of Predators’ by Hunter x Hunter.

Although it’s not specified on the official MPO website, Hakken has clarified by commenting on an MPO social media post that they will be narrating some of the performance tracks onstage and sharing their story according to the tracks. They also advised that the actual tracks that will be played may differ from the website listing as the officials are still in discussion. Although Hakken is known for cosplaying characters such as Bruno Bucciarati from JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, they also excitingly shared that they will be preparing a new cosplay look for the concert and said, “Looking forward to seeing you all!”

Hakken is known for their gentle, soothing, and melodious voice even having previously sung Bukan Cinta Biasa by Siti Nurhaliza on their Instagram live.
