A lot of us binge watched a handful of South Korean series on Netflix, and probably had ‘Crash Landing On You’ fever at one point.

This helped introduce us to other highly-rated K-dramas such as ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’ and another popular one that’s currently trending – ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’.

Both K-dramas have gained worldwide popularity on Netflix, but strangely, nobody really cares about them in its country of origin.

Massive flops

According to Koreaboo, both ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’ and ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ recorded very low ratings in South Korea despite their global success.

Both series placed first and second place respectively in the Top 10 Most-Watched K-Dramas on Netflix list.

‘The King: Eternal Monarch’ gained an all-time low rating of 5.2 per episode for episode 11 for the whole series, while ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ recorded just a mere 4.2 per cent for its 10^th episode.

In comparison, ‘Crash Landing On You’ recorded ratings of up to 21.6 per cent throughout its series.

South Koreans felt ‘Eternal Monarch’ was a bit out of touch and unrealistic, while the acting in ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ felt forced.

Well, a man’s meat may be another man’s poison. These K-dramas may have not done well at home, but its popularity around the world is an indicator of its success.
