If you’re a die-hard Swiftie who didn’t manage to catch ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert movie in Malaysian cinemas last October, or you didn’t manage to get tickets for her Singapore concert, we have good news for you. Disney+ has announced that ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will be coming exclusively to Disney+ worldwide. This will include the full concert including five songs not previously featured in the theatrical or digital versions.

Only one bonus song has been revealed, which is “Cardigan” from her 2020 album ‘Folklore’, so you’ll have to watch the concert film to find out the rest. According to Variety, these songs may be the four acoustic “surprise songs” she performed: “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “Maroon,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.” According to Disney+ Hotstar representatives, the film will be released in Malaysia too but there is no official date yet. The official worldwide release date is 15 March.

Due to Taylor’s popularity, we assume that there was a bidding war for the rights to the film but the financial terms were not disclosed. The global revenue for the film grossed US$261.6 million (RM1.2 billion) at the global box office at last count, beating out Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ (US$ 261.1 million and Justin Bieber’s ‘Never Say Never’ ($99 million).

“‘The Eras Tour’ has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world, and we are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences whenever they want, exclusively on Disney+,” said Bob Iger, CEO of Disney.

Taylor also announced the news in an Instagram post, saying “This week is truly the best kind of chaos. I’m thrilled to let you know I’ve found a streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert Film, and that home will be @disneyplus. For the first time we’ll be showing the entire concert (including “cardigan”, plus 4 additional songs from the acoustic section!!) and I’m calling it, huge shock, “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).

The concert will include a whopping total of 49 songs. Swift’s production company, Taylor Swift Productions, produced the film in collaboration with Silent House Productions.

Taylor recently made Grammy history when she won Album of the Year for “Midnights”, a record-setting fourth win in the category. She also announced her next studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ which will be out on 19 April 2024. Swifties are excited to see if it will feature any hot goss about her ex, Joe Alwyn.
